I used to be obsessed with telling people how he was shot during an interview and continued the interview like "it's a little blood so what"

Or how on one film he "accidently" set a midget on fire, so to apologize he threw himself into a bed of cactus. Then a PA on the film said "wow you're crazy! I'm going to make a documentary about this!" And Werner Herzog said "if you're film plays in any theater where in America I will eat my own shoe" and do the guy made the film but couldn't get it to play anywhere. So Herzog called up a random theater and asked them to play it for 1 weekend. And they did. So he had to eat his shoe.

There's a documentary about him boiling it for 20hours and attempting to eat it on YouTube🤷🏽
