I remember when you were so bullish on Cashu that you imbedded hidden nuts in the Nests website.

What pushed me away was:

1. Bad implementation choices (no support for Bitcoin script-like functionality and instead hardcoded)

2. It being misadvertised (cashu payments are instant but you completely lose any trustlessness)

3. Lack of focus on security

Well, it's still early. Maybe some of these can be addressed?

Too late, I have been pushing for some of those changes from very early on

i got calle to admit one time that ecash was precisely the same as a wildcat bank... but he never really changed his aggressive marketing to be more moderate and remind people that you gotta trust mints, and not just their honesty but their ability to maintain their infrastructure

Yeah or just don't trust them (too much) and just put a few bucks in there so it doesn't hurt when things go south.

that's close to a shitcoiners mindset.

trust in a world of trustless protocols? Yeah, NO.

I put about 10k sats on fountains custodial wallet to pay for podcasts.

I can afford to loose them.

The convienience is worth it.

It's like money in your leather wallet.

You risk to loose it or some pickpocket steals it.

So what? That's why most people don't put 1k $ in their pockets.

That's nothing to do with shitcoins, it's risk managment and game theorie (fountain can gain more in the long run if they don't rugpull people for 10k sats).

Its never sovereign when someone else’s money is pushing an agenda

Not when you are an HRF grant and ******** grant slut. (Sorry i know that is rude but i had to say it) 😂

What I tell people is that bitcoin is like a shared excel spreadsheet (ledger) where no one controls it. A custodial system is like an excel spreadsheet that one person controls. That being the case, if you're going to do that latter with wrapped bitcoin, you need to have a good reputation and earn trust. That was the mistake of cashu. Next time we do mints, they have to generate good reputations without rug pulls. Preferably using nostr and native taproot. And explain the trade-offs clearly to users.
