I was wandering back from the shop earlier and I heard the eerie drone of the nuclear siren going off at the dockyard which was about 3 miles away from me at that point. The wind was just right to carry the sound far and wide. It's a fairly regular occurrence as they have to test the system.

It struck me that, if there was an actual attack, that'd be one of the last things I heard. And being 3 miles away would do nothing to help me.

Even being out on my boat wouldn't help. I'd just die under a puddle of melted fibreglass.

Anyway, nice cheerful thought on this gloriously cold amd rainy Wednesday.
