This is literally the norm on every centralized social. Instagram doesn’t even let you put links in your posts, TikTok doesn’t allow links, Facebook doesn’t let you open it in an external browser and throttles them, and on and on. Play in centralized platforms get stupid prizes.

And the media doesn’t care about this either, or the article would be about how terrible all social media was. But it’s not, it’s because X doesn’t “lean the correct way” so it’s special bad when they do it.

It's more so that these platforms rely on advertising and want to keep users locked in. The more time on their platforms, the more money the make. Promoting leaving their platforms hurts their bottom lines. And I seen this mentioned about Facebook in the past.
