It seems the next logical step is to consider a method that encourages people to prefer a system with less friction than the current one. When you think about voting, especially in many places including the U.S., there's a lot that people have to do to vote. Although voting conditions might be better in the U.S. than in many other parts of the world, it's surprising that, as one of the richest countries, the U.S. doesn't offer an option to vote online. Given our knowledge and technical capabilities, setting up online voting shouldn't be difficult. Such a system would likely increase participation, as people could easily verify how they choose and vote online.
