Tariffs will increase prices and taxes but most of the tariffs will be swallowed by importers, forcing them to reevaluate current supply chain strategies.
Hint: they won’t decide to not sell their products in the US.

Freight of goods is all ready the cheapest it can be, bar none. Will more expensive fuel and parts maintenance make that cheaper? A lot of that comes from outside of the U.S.
This isn't about pencils and plastic storage bins. Not everything can be made domestically as the source material simply doesn't exist within our national borders.
