ffmpeg -i audio.xxx -c:a flac audio.flac

I am literally ripping a CD with EAC right now. It's the GOAT.

Does it actually get the access to the hardware that it needs to ensure a perfect rip when running under WINE?

this is the ONLY windows software I actually miss

Windows 3.1 + DOS was an amazing time

πŸ˜‚

i miss minesweeper too ntymi

although as a PC gamer in my youth

if I think about it, there were some good ones

Ya man, Commander Keen and Wing Commander were sick

Commander Keen!

The Origin games were my favorite tho

I got all the Ultima games as soon as they came out. from Exodus anyway

even Savage Empire and Martian Dreams

Unpopular opinion but Ultima 8 was my favorite (and of course ultima online was my goto for many many years)

sorry John we cant be friends anymore.

if its not Brittannia its crap

i did like the darker tone tho.

maybe it was just that I was about done with computer games (except for UO binges of course)

I understand, it's not a popular take. I liked how the magic was. hard. Like if you wanted to throw a fireball later you had to fuckin' prepare and do a ritual and shit and maybe die in the process. UO was just amazing. I would play a game like UO today if it existed. It was very open, you could do as you please an pay the the consequences, build houses in the open world wherever. Form meaningful guilds, it was sweet in the olden days before they made it all trammeled

I spent days just chopping wood and building stuff.

it was a world my friends and I had dreamed of since... well Compuserve?

I miss compuserve. Ya man. Chop trees and sell bows to the smith until you could afford shit armor then go kill skeletons, etc., until you could get a small house. I had all kinds of macro's set up to auto level skills so I could set it and forget it. Like they would automatically reload bags and inventory from nearby chests. Get that 99.8% magic resist and then go full on murder town. Remember the double halberd hit exploit? Where you could target someone with the halberd, unequip and reequip and then it would swing twice instantly. Pair that up with a delayed explosion, winning

lol

you were clearly an early griefer John πŸ˜‚

I'm just a humble pleb in search of phat l00t.

omg! Commander Keen! Haven't had that in my mind for agesπŸ˜‚πŸ™

i didn't know you were that era!

My friends and I would also play original worms on the high school LAN

I dont remember that one.... πŸ€”

dang 😯

this was mine. at least it looks like a computer...

Love the keyboard.

everything piece weighed like 10 pounds.

With floppy disc 5 1/4" ?

yeah! fancy.

That was state of the art. Still unbelievable what progress happened since than

I remember when I got a 10MB harddrive, so badass.

It was bigger and heavier than a brick, a lethal weapon.

Had to search for it. Man it was huge πŸ˜‚

That's a datasette not a computer.

Yes and it was connect to a Commodore

Yes.

Nice. EAC is pretty much the only Windows software I need for non-work purposes, so it's good to know that's an option!

Just make sure you've got FLAC installed and you're good to go.
