Anyone have recommendations for videos or articles for why and how to setup lighting nodes? I’m all setup with a DIY start9 server, and I’ve been running a BTC node just to contribute and I plan on doing more with that in the future but as I start down the lightning node rabbit hole I’m being pulled all over the place. Ideally I’d like to be able to use my own node for transactions that I’m involved in, and build on that with something like BTC payserver (which I’ve only skimmed over) to be able to take payments at markets as a vendor and possibly provide some uncle Jim type services for others that are interested. I have a decent grasp of how things work and I believe I have all the tools that are needed but as I said before I’m all over the place every time I sit down to try and figure things out. Start with a small private channel to say Start9HQ or lightning tip bot...and get a feel for sending and receiving. I dont recommend jumping in too fast to a lightning node especially in a high fee environment.

With a private channel I still need liquidity on both sides to send and receive correct?

You need inbound liquidity on any channel whether its private or public if you want to receive payments to it. You gain inbound liquidity in the channel by sending some sats out of the channel after creation.
