Has anyone else raised a Sovereign Child?

Naval recently turned me onto this book by Aaron Stupple, which describes a technique to raise children without rules.

-Unlimited ‘screen time’

-No food restrictions

-Bed time when they choose

-you School if they want

From a moral perspective, I think his arguments hold water.. but his kids are only 2-7 yo, so who knows what unintended consequences are yet to be discovered.

It’s mind bending to consider. Any homeschoolers/unschoolers out there with any experience?

I was basically this child and I would have absolutely benefited from more structure/rules in my early life.

Were your parents involved at all, or was there a conscious effort to minimize rules?

Combination of lenient parents and a stubborn kid, my parents were also divorced so I was put in a trophy child position and could basically do what ever I wanted.

granted I don't know what their parenting style was behind the scenes

sorry to hear, although sounds like the ultimate leverage.

overall I had a great upbringing but yea I don't think no rules is the secret to parenting, in my opinion setting a good example is the most important thing.
