Just a receipt. A receipt is not required for zaps.

Then it's not a Zap. We had Lightning payments in 2022 because Lightning addresses were on profiles. We didn't have Zaps, integration of Nostr into Lightning addresses, until approximately February 2023.

This is like Stacker News and Orange Pill App saying Zaps for Lightning payment after nostr:nprofile1qqsr9cvzwc652r4m83d86ykplrnm9dg5gwdvzzn8ameanlvut35wy3gpzdmhxw309aex2mrp0yhx5c34x5hxxmmdqyxhwumn8ghj7mn0wvhxcmmvqyg8wumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytnvv9hxgpywa92 invented them because it's a cool and fun way to say it.

It's an affinity scam.

I think zaps existed before NIP57. nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s just gave it a name.

If I use someones nostr lightning address to fetch an invoice and pay it, is that a zap? Or is it only a zap if the LNURL server provides nostr support and receipts? Because in my mind if I make a successful lightning payment to a nostr user, that's a zap regardless of a receipt. But correct me if I'm wrong.

a zap is a receipt note on nostr (nip57), you're describing a regular lightning payment.
