I think zaps existed before NIP57. nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s just gave it a name.
Then it's not a Zap. We had Lightning payments in 2022 because Lightning addresses were on profiles. We didn't have Zaps, integration of Nostr into Lightning addresses, until approximately February 2023.
This is like Stacker News and Orange Pill App saying Zaps for Lightning payment after nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s invented them because it's a cool and fun way to say it.

zaps is a great name...
If I use someones nostr lightning address to fetch an invoice and pay it, is that a zap? Or is it only a zap if the LNURL server provides nostr support and receipts? Because in my mind if I make a successful lightning payment to a nostr user, that's a zap regardless of a receipt. But correct me if I'm wrong.
a zap is a receipt note on nostr (nip57), you're describing a regular lightning payment.
So the receipt is the zap and not the payment.
