Across sites in Europe, the near east, Africa and South Asia, human remains from pre-agricultural and early agricultural layers tell a clear, repeating story.

In all geographical areas, cultures and societies agricultural developed in, the pattern is grim. Farming didn’t improve health, quite the opposite, it damaged it.

Comparing more than 11,000 skeletal remains they found in every region, the average male height declined following the adoption of agriculture…men lost up to 6 inches in height and women lost 5 inches.

Teeth were also affected. Dental health collapses in the wake of agriculture. Pre-agricultural specimens usually have worn but relatively clean teeth with low to no cavities…in Neolithic Nubia excavations found that nearly every adult molar was decayed or abscessed.”
