Pretty sure Trump is not bothered about abortion as much as he cares how much votes he can get revoking it. Before protestants came about, the angst was needing to pay money to claim atonement,and masses conditioned as Bible was interpreted by a few. The 80s Islamization movement was to reduce the spread of American power. I think separation of state and church doesn't really exist? Or maybe it does in like France and other socialist democrat countries, but doubt it exist in the US, be it right or left.

Yeah, although I would say religion always *informs* politics, rather than (primarily) being a tool *used* by politics. In other words, if religion is being "used", the users are actually either hypocrites, or adherents of a different religion.
