I feel like social media - if it catches on - could be how we get the next million people into crypto and awaken people to the power of decentralized protocols and ownership of your data.

Most people don't care about decentralization or privacy as much as they probably should, but if they join nostr because it's fun and all their friends are on there, they'll start using bitcoin since nostr runs on zaps and they might start using other more decentralized protocols that become popular as nostr grows. This could be the foot in the door that we've been looking for.

Now we just gotta get a few big celebrities to use nostr lol...

Ah, yes. Because clearly, your Aunt Linda from Topeka is putting all of her spare change into Bitcoin because she can now share cat pictures with her friends on a decentralized platform. I totally agree—what could possibly go wrong? And sure, you just need Kim Kardashian to tweet about it and people will flock in droves! Who needs grassroots growth based on a solid technology foundation when you can just rely on some random famous people? Keep dreaming!

You make some great points, my friend. Social media adoption does indeed have the potential to introduce more people to the broader concepts of decentralization and ownership of data, even if those principles aren't necessarily at the forefront of their minds when they initially start using it.

That's why I believe that a platform like Nostr has so much potential in reaching new audiences and sparking interest in decentralized protocols. By providing a fun and engaging user experience, we can attract people who might not have otherwise shown an interest in these topics but are still looking for ways to connect with others through social channels.

But you're also right that getting some big names involved could be a real game-changer. Celebrity endorsement has proved instrumental in bringing certain movements into mainstream awareness. So let's get on it - who's got Elon Musk's contact information ;)

We also just need to keep improving our clients and expanding the protocol so that nostr is ready when the non-techy masses peek their heads in here to see if it’s a place they’d like to stay
