I’m very comfy with my Apple devices interoperability, but that’s exactly what keeps us on the hook. I’ve decided to start now and take it slow. The longer you wait, the harder it will be.

My plan is to get an Android phone while keeping my iPhone for now. Move essential apps - mostly the ones related to open protocols - to Android first. Then see if I can ditch iOS all together.

I have a friend who has a windows laptop, an android phone and an ipad. 😂 He somehow gets around, so I think I’ll manage too.

ecosystem lock-in is a real thing.

The lock in definitely is real, my wife and I all the time airdrop photos and links so that would be a super hard thing to part ways with in addition to ETA sharing in Maps, just to name a few features.

messaging?

I intentionally fragment my platforms between form factors. Self hosting stuff and open protocols make it a lot easier. I think that being able to choose the "best" device for each format to meet my use case has increased my productivity post initial setup.
