Pretty much. You can use any app you want, all with a free service, many different applications from music and blog apps to Twitter clones and chat. If you don’t like nostr.build image uploader, there is nostrcheck.me, satellite.earth, nostrimg.com to name a few…
Or just build your own app!
Many of us do charge for some services to pay the bills and develop, but 99% is free.
