Do you know of any good tutorials to lower the power usage and/or upgrade the fans? I have an older S9 that sounds like a jet.

May be it’s time to start getting ready for s17/s19 heater

DOIT!

Yeah I’m down for that too. On the lookout for how to deal with the noise and potentially not having a 240v outlet.

Single board s17/s19 will run on 120 if I’m not mistaken.

S9 runs on a normal 120v wall plug

Yes

Yup, I meant for the S19. I remember seeing someone getting it working.

Oh sorry, comment threading sucks on amythest 🙃

Yeah I've heard it's possible but haven't tried. I don't see why it wouldn't work so long as there isn't any sort of undervoltage fault breaker built in. Undervoltage will simply put a cap on the max wattage you can run the machine at. It'll affect efficiency as well though.

Oh shit, you da man! Wasn’t aware of either of those! That BitChimney looks nice af. Have you seen any reviews on it?

I’ve definitely seen vids of then in the wild that’s all I can say.

I did these mods to my s9 miners.

It's basically whisper quiet at 800w.

Thanks, this is what I was looking for. Need to make a compilation of these types of tutorials. 🤙

Tbh 👆🏾 is probably all you need. It's all pretty straightforward.

The hardest part is replacing the fan plug adapters (bitmain's plugs have the nubs in a different spot). It's easy if you get a pair of needle nose tweezers. I use these - super super useful for so many applications. I use them almost daily for various things around the house.

I've only ever used braiins os. But to lower the power usage is VERY easy using it.

Click on menu > configuration > click menu again > performance

Make sure automating is checked and simply input your wattage preference. It will take some time for it to finish tuning and the fans will randomly ramp up and down. But once it's done the hashrate will rise amd the fan rpms will stabilize. Sometimes it can take a few hrs to do initial tuning.

Will have to check this out! I noticed it on my recent S9, but wasn’t aware of it when I first got my hands on one back in the day.

Curious if it’s the lower power usage or upgraded fans that contribute to the noise reduction. Prob a little bit of both.
