Hey trad lads and trad flaps.

What are ALLOWABLE reasons, in your worldview, not to have children?

You're allowed to do whatever you want.

and now that's that's been booted twice... if you have the ability to have children, I would highly recommend building a family with a other human being. It's very low time preference.

Nobody asked about that

You do you.

I can think of legitimate reasons I would apply to my own personal life, but ultimately you have to make your own destiny on that one.

In my worldview, financial hardship, an immature spouse, or religious (enlightenment) pursuits are all very legitimate reasons to not have children.

But many people in any one of those positions have kids and it works out great so it’s a very personal journey.

I’ll also note that I understand that all three of the examples I gave are somewhat within your control, so there would have to be a lack of desire to have kids as well. If you lack desire, then you definitely shouldn’t.

What about if one of you could easily die in the kids formative years? Like predicatably, statistically be prone to death?

I probably wouldn’t do it personally, but I have an uncle who had kids after 50 and is at risk of some serious health problems, but he lives an incredibly good life and has gotten over 13 years with them now

If you were to do that, I personally think you should make sure you have a godfather or close family member or friend who would be willing to raise the child in that unfortunate circumstance
