They see the US doing it, they see the EU trying to do it. So they think any state has the same power over the internet services and tech companies as the US. But for any countries that are not the US they have to make US do their bidding or learn from China.

Yes. And they forget we are not even a middle power, we are a backwater with economic complexity below Uganda that happens to have a shitton of land and resources which got wealthy because of our vassal relationship with the US.

These parasites are way out over their skis here, but your point identifies why they feel emboldened to do so.

(+300% for knowing "economic complexity"! This is why I'm on Nostr)

The level of discourse here is similar to early Reddit, but +300% better. I learn so much on #nostr, it’s like mainlining brain fluid from smart humans.

#AUStriches who understand our economy have long said it’s based on “houses and holes” - mining and real estate.

I added handicapped recently because our National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is now a proper chunk of the economy here, reaching 3% soon with 1/3 of new jobs coming from related industries in the last year.

It’s not intuitive when you live here, you have to pay attention. But if you do pay attention, it’s obvious.
