I havenβt looked at star9 but my guess is everything thatβs geared for specific use (or at least marketed as such) is going to be overpriced.
So basically you're telling me I just go ahead and buy that $2000 gaming pc I wanted, and just slap my node onto it. Nice!
If you use it for gaming why not π€·ββοΈ
I personally run Umbrel and have for 2.5 years. I have used Embassy OS from Start9 just to tinker and explore the platform. Umbrel. Start9's server one is $80 cheaper if you upgrade to 2TB storage to have similar specs. Start9 has great backup options and allows you to register an SSL certificate. If I were to choose today, I'd choose Start9. I have zero issues with Umbrel though.
Start9 says theyll have vpn / clearnet options rolling out later this year...should make using lightning and accessing media remotely easier to do.
I mean unless you live in a closet do you really need it to be that small? I also have to wonder how much lifespan these tiny computers with higher processing specs actually lose. They can't be very efficient at cooling.
I think this could be a good comparable option to the Umbrel offer. It just needs extra SSD. Also I wouldn't run Bitcoin stuff together with media stuff. Bitcoin can stay on RPi.

Check my quote of the note on my profile. I offered a solution for half the cost with double the storage and more performance.
What about a 199$ Start9 ? π

Iβve checked the web and you can find a pc with the same specs for roughly 400β¬/$
Same. I canβt match their small footprint but I paid $80 for a old HP tower that has the same or better specs.
