Apple may require you to register as a non-profit in order to accept donations.

Instead of calling it donations, call it "tip". Apple is okay with that. Note that, Apple will still take 15-30% of tips.

Lol maybe. I work for a non-profit and we had to register and provide proof for Apple to let us take donations without them taking a cut.
