If someone runs iOS in the UK, I'm curious to know what happened to all the old, encrypted cloud data. Did you lose access? Do you still get to use ADP to decrypt it? Or did iOS transfer your key to Apple so that they could decrypt it?

Essentially, the government now has been given a backdoor to access your data in the U.K. You'll no longer be able to use ADP at all, it'll be disabled.
Afaik, there is no backdoor. Apple just stopped offering encryption in the UK. My question, though, is about what happens to existing encrypted data.
It is a backdoor, otherwise the govt wouldn't give af. The guardian has a recent article on how it effects you.
What's your definition of backdoor?
Since it's at the governments request to specifically have access to user data it gives them a means to acquire it on their own via unencrypted channels. They could serve up a warrant on a user with zero resistance from Apple. It's weaponization through hyper implementation of surveillance, which i don't seem to understand considering the U.K typically we're more suggestive of user data privacy. So I think it's purpose is to take hostage of Apple because they didn't get what they originally wanted which was probably more money.
From the article:
“As we have said many times before, we have never built a backdoor or master key to any of our products or services and we never will,” Apple said
That fits my definition on backdoor. Not offering encryption so that gov can view the data is not the same as a backdoor. Gov said build a backdoor, Apple said FU, we wont do that, so we just aren't going to give you protection. It's a good move.
Thanks for sharing the article. It mentions in there that current users of ADP will have some time before requiring it to be turned off. I suppose that gives them time to backup whatever they have before it is purged or decrypted.
The craziest thing is how brazen the government was about their intentions, usually talks like this are done in a classified manner as not to alert people to their wrong doings but they've gotten so idgaf about it anymore. It's time for regime change over there man
