It's just an open protocol for publishing and reading optionally-structured data, with extremely light social networking fundamentals baked in (follows, etc.). "email" was maybe a stretch.

"Social media" as a definition presumes "cOnTenT" - and delivered and organized in a particular way.

Look at the hundreds of "Other Stuff" apps. "bounty marketplace", "raw milk vendors", "digital pet app", "private legal systems", "cryptographic signing", "payment splits", etc - if these are all "[social] Media" then the term is so broad as to be meaningless.

Ah right I totally agree, I'd probably call Nostr a communications protocol.

Ah and you can add one more app to your list nostr:nprofile1qqs8p3ywfd92w7zvjgy7wrpylz8t30hy3z5dc5al4070l9y8qr8rejcpzpmhxue69uhkummnw3ezumt0d5hszrnhwden5te0dehhxtnvdakz7qgawaehxw309ahx7um5wghxy6t5vdhkjmn9wgh8xmmrd9skctc0reyhh (crowdfunding)

nice. maybe a #catallax nostr:nprofile1qqsq8vc77wkpdl53tw0a0f84w4uf45xnmhzfkf90z63fd7w0jdvpvxcpzamhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuurjd9kkzmpwdejhgtcppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp0qy2hwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnyv9kh2uewd9hj7h2jtdu integration with them one day

That can be interesting, using Angor will improve catallax because there is no 3rd party risk like the need for an escrow or arbitrar.

I hope to see people build catallax markets in both paradigms: WoT arbiters who build a profitable business providing their service; and trustless programmatic escrows like Angor - let the market sort it out.

I was actually thinking more about the crowdfund element. There's the zapraiser NIP that I want to integrate with catallax, so that bounties could be crowdfunded. But no reason someone couldn't build a catallax client that uses Angor for the crowdfunding instead.
