I still can't really explain why 99% of nostr is so nice when it's the only place you can't get banned or censored?

Like why did we not instantly become 4chan?

Because the retarded trolls haven't arrived yet. They'll come with the normies (assuming they ever come over).

I think this might be a strong factor. The lot here is not easily trollable (a friend told me)
