Ahh, yeah if they're only reading from one, that would help, but wouldn't they only write to one in that case as well? This is the mystery I'm trying to solve because I have a feeling it could be an unintended bug somewhere in their clients.
No, most clients allow you to turn off read for relays without turning off writes. That is the default behavior in global on Damus (can turn off read but not write).

Right, but wouldn't that be weird for them? Like, they write to all relays, only read from one or two. What happens at the other relays? They get a bunch of out of context messages. So they must be using just one 'main' relay and not reading from any others I take it..
Thanks for the responses.. I am on a months long mission to figure this out eventually. Just gotta get the attention of someone in Japan that's willing to explain what they got going on over there 😅
