Is it a myth that you have to have a certain gene in order to appreciate cilantro? I don’t have it.
The other way around.
There's a known gene (OR6A2) that appears to cause olfactory receptors (taste buds, for example) to detect Aldehydes in Apiaceae (the parsley family that includes cilantro) to taste like things ranging from soap to moldy/musty.
