i'm no dev and new at nostr and I understand that a lot here is driven by Bitcoin and its ideology. But every body knows that Bitcoin has also some serious downsides. I like the option to make micropayments but i personnel don't like the the strong links JUST to Bitcoin. If you want the nostr network to be widely used, and not just from the Bitcoin fanboys i would be interesting to have something like GNU Taler https://taler.net also. Actually an implementation would be a very strong signal.
Fiat used to be measure of capital and social recognition that provided access to resources(from the royal minted tokens, right?).
What we need instead of fiat - is the underlying value that backed fiat:
-Human and intellectual capital
-Social recognition and respect
-Access to resources.
And Damus is a gate for that.
