The birth rate statistics itself doesn't explain the problem and misleads IMO.

People don't get married and do families as before, less families, less babies. The decline isn't caused by the suddenly decrease of n of childrens per family, but the number of new families itself.

I suspect this is one of those things that is a product of our environment and times - and so many factors go into that. It’s impossible to point to one thing specifically but a lot of it ultimately boils down to fiat access.
