⚡️🏀 NEW - Crypto promoters have claimed responsibility for the recent throwing of sex toys on WNBA floors, insisting they wanted to "make a viral buzz" to "create the event".
Six games in the U.S. Women's Basketball Championship have been interrupted since the end of July due to such incidents.
An unnamed crypto spokesperson said the aim was to create a buzz to attract attention.
"We knew that in order to be heard [...] we had to create the event and make a viral buzz, so that we didn't have to pay all these influencers sacrificing our soul and the fate of the project."
"For the future, we have many more jokes in store, but they will be much lighter and more tasteful."
Two people have been arrested, in Atlanta and Phoenix, as part of the investigation into these incidents.
"It's ridiculous, it's stupid, it's moronic. It's also dangerous. The safety of the players is paramount, as is respect for the game. "
