baseline is a fuzzy logic match that looks for similar
next level would be finding ways to identify complementary features
then after that probably you train an AI on existing matches and sic it on the data set to find more possibilities that neither of the above line up
I used OKCupid a long time ago and their algorithm had 100 scoring number for whether the other person was a match. But it was like trying to put me with very similar backgrounds which was boring.
However I did use the "looking for friends" option and I just disregarded the scoring they suggested, and it worked well to find friends in a new city. It was more about finding and writing people. pre mobile swiping stuff.
yeah, it's my firm opinion that fuzzy logic/ML/AI stuff is way less helpful than a low friction to starting conversations
imo nostr could become this if the clowns currently dominating development funding actually thought about building it for something other than stroking their pathetic bitcoiner egos and actually providing a useful framework for paid services to provide solutions to problems that the existing centralised networks cannot

It's really convenient to travel now with bitcoin community stuff. I haven't traveled in like 10 years and back then there was couch surfing to find local people. This is a really cool benefit to Bitcoin right now is to be able to travel and find community and conversations all down the rabbit hole like coffee enemas, fish pond aquaponics.
