Chaumian mints can be one of the most powerful tools for people to bypass high fees.

Drivechain
Fuck drivechain sorry my french Lyn π«‘
They are band aids and assume people can trust the mints and want to hold Cashu
Don't forget payjoins, coinjoins and musig2
As long as these mints are used in tightly knit communities and not some Coinbase mint with millions of users ...
I have high hopes for Chaumian mints, too but fear people will put all their funds into the same few providers' wallets.
payjoin, coinjoin, musig2.
We can nearly half tx sizes. Just a matter of building protocols and interfaces to make it accessible.
I agree, if implemented wisely, the mint's incentives should be aligned with the user's goals. This typically can happen easily in smaller closed ecosystems.
When you scale up to larger coinbase-like ecosystems, you end up with a wider variety of intent and invariably will end up with some users in opposition of the mint's incentives.
Unfortunately it's less friction to create the latter so invariably there will be large centralized mints primed for a ruggening.
There will be the Amazon mint, the Walmart mint, the Netflix mint, the Apple mint, the Google mintβ¦ it wonβt be centralized at all. lol.
Outside of Cashu, are any federations running yet?
I know nostr:npub1uq70uqgas9pyhds2zt57kr9se8rg3s68ztphjnq82ts8rzeknmeql7u0c2 is supposed to be out before the end of 2023. I believe itβll be a game changer.
Block space is more scarce and desirable than property in Vail and onchain gentrification was inevitable.
Those who would benefit from its highest and best use arenβt necessarily the ones who will get to benefit from it in the short term.
The market will decide what gets developed. The only way Vail has preserved any of its natural wonder is zoning and permitting restrictions.
But with Bitcoin thatβs a problem because to do so violates its permissionless and censorship resistant foundation.
What about Liquid? sometimes the solution is right in your face! Just saying
There will be many alternatives. Liquid is also one. But we must look at we are saying and doing. Bitcoiners: "take your bitcoin out of exchanges! Not your keys not your coins!" - But the fees - Use Mints or Liquid! ππ
wow. do bitcoiners really pay $4.75 for "no priority" transactions?
is $32.74 the default option?
dont you feel like thats a bit too much?
