In 2017, Trump labeled Qatar as “a major funder of terrorism” and urged an immediate end to its support. By 2025, his tone had shifted dramatically, describing the U.S.-Qatar relationship as a “very loyal, great, beautiful friendship.”

The stark contrast raises questions about what prompted such a dramatic reversal in stance.

It’s remarkable to think that Ahmed al-Sharaa, once captured by the U.S. Army in Iraq back in 2006, would one day be shaking hands with the President of the United States. His journey—from a wanted terrorist to the President of a slowly stabilizing Syria now aligning itself with the U.S.—mirrors the broader transformation of a nation emerging from years of civil war into a potential partner on the global stage.

Qatar was the proxy that took out gadaffi in Libya, thru funding, weapons, and US backing. One more piece of the puzzle in the reorganization and control grid.
