Would you trust a brain or heart surgeon who didn’t go to college?

What if they were highly recommended?

Probably would trust them more

Is there a profession that you’d only want someone with a college degree to do the job?

Proof of work, and apprenticeship >>> credentials

Agree. I think there is a place for higher education, but today’s college system is mostly a scam in my opinion

Probably see it that way because fiat system has corrupted it?

I have my degree in a math & science field. I feel it was a waste tbh. My entire career has required none of it other than the line on my resume and applications that say I have a degree

True. Sometimes there's no preparation for what's actually being done. Credentials are a form of proof of work but they may have been compromised by fiat incentives. If anything, your brain was activated in ways it may not have been otherwise. The effects may not be obvious though.

Perhaps the 80% focus should be on the practice and 20% on theory instead?

did they learn on the job?

Yes

The most popular chiropractor in Mexico used to be a veterinary chiropractor. He wasn’t even a real veterinarian. Then, American professional sports figures discovered him and began going to him for pt when there were many other options in the states. The results were his credentials.

Letter soup after your name doesn’t say anything about how sure and stable your hand is with a knife.
