its a metaphor. we are the dogs. leave the other dog at home and strap the boots on

I see. Well I just did a thing and it takes 40 minutes to see if it will work or not so I'm going to go get ready and head on out. Be back in an hour!

Then tonight when it cools down I'll take the real dog for his walk.
