I've used it when I needed transaction secrecy. I've mined it and swapped it for Bitcoin because it was still minable with CPUs. FWIW, I've always viewed the project as a testbed for novel privacy technology. Maybe one day after some of these features have been thoroughly tested and proven, they can be Incorporated into Bitcoin.

It's simply a way to test and prove novel features. We have to test privacy improvements somehow, and we shouldn't be testing them on Bitcoin, as it is the main chain. The big daddy. Can't afford to make mistakes there. So we need other networks to test them on.
It's a falsehood to say that Bitcoin has reached a state of perfection and needs no more improvement. This is the complacency of many bitcoiners, and complacency kills.

All the Monero I mined back in the day I swapped for Bitcoin.
When I wish to make a Monero transaction I just buy some with Bitcoin on a no-kyc exchange and do the deed. Sometimes I have a little sitting in my wallet. Bitcoin is my savings vehicle though.

I get some when I need to use it. Would never use Bitcoin for a DNM transaction. Monero is cheaper faster easier and likely much safer than trying to do a bitcoin coin join transaction.
