I think onlyzaps turns away all people who aren't already Bitcoiners.
You don’t have to zap! You can always give your time and reply with the thoughtful comment! I don’t see how this turns anyone away! 🐶🐾🫂🫡
You can argue that people migrating from other social platforms expect to be able to like a post. I think keeping some habits that people already have come to know would be good to keep around, to help keep the attention of new users to nostr. I’m all for dropping the like button, but I can also see a purpose for the like button as well.
It’s like quitting smoking, if you want to stop bad habit, you stop. Providing it to people not gonna help them! There is no second best? 🐶🐾🫡

Quitting smoking is difficult for a lot of people. Some people ease into it, weaning them selves off nicotine over time, others quit “cold turkey”, maybe if you could opt into only zaps as the reader vs the poster it would help with slowly teaching the new way. I definitely get your point though, feeding a habit to an addict is never a good thing to do, and might be good to just force it, but idk if that’s the best way to go about it. Again I see both sides, just throwing my thoughts out there.
Good thoughts, 💯 agree! I do like the experiment though! Also, replying with “+1” or “🤙🏻” is an option! 🐶🐾🫡
But how would that be any different than a simple one click option to just show some appreciation to a post. Adding a “+1” or a 🤙 in the comments is just a lot more steps than a click. But yes, I am all for the experiment, and the feed back will definitely help shape the future of nostr. 💯
Most people just like and dont want to comment. It shows you actually saw the post and engaged. Not being able to do this if you are not a bitcoiner will be a massive turnoff for 99 % of the population. It signals this is a Bitcoin group and not for everyone.. if I were to show literally any non coiner this and they asked about it they'd be out and have no interest.
I must like a hundred memes a day. There is no F ing way I would comment on them all individually.
Comments and conversations are key to a meaningful exchange on social media. Reposts have value too. The best thing is that you can choose to build whatever kind of experience you want here!
