Ok, quick postmortem on the #Trump speech.
TLDR: VOTE FOR TRUMP IF YOU CARE ABOUT ROSS & HIS MOM.
I watched the entire thing, and first off I have never met Trump in person, but from the stage he comes off as a self-absorbed egotistical idiot (At least in the context of Bitcoin).
I don't know who wrote his speech, but they should be fired. I cringed the entire time, and cared about just about nothing until the later part of the speech. Finally, for the 2nd time in public, Trump promised to #FreeRoss and commute his sentence on the first day in office. SOLD.
I totally get the viewpoint of not voting. 'It just empowers a broken system.' And all the arguments in-between. In truth, this brokenness and this system has been stood up by fiat. There is a nihilism in itself in not voting though. Bitcoins stands against this Nihilism. Politics cares about YOU and Ross's family certainly cares about politics right now.
What we do know is that the DNC ticket will continue its' assault on Bitcoin and individual liberty. It will continue to attack self-custody. It will not FREE Ross.
What Trump did appear to understand is that Bitcoin is as American as Apple pie.
If I ever get the opportunity to see Ross in person and hug his mom, I will be able to do that without guilt, and know that maybe I played a small part in freeing Ross the only way he has a chance at this point.
Your vote only adds as much power to the system as you let it. I will vote without emotion, I will vote for Trump (my first vote cast since Ron Paul), and I will pray to God that Trump follows through with his promise.
