We all knew what this meant.

I took her home so my wife could say goodbye.

I spent the day, night and next morning carrying her around where she’d normally go herself.

With the Border Collie is was a hard but easy call. She had stopped eating and drinking, was getting lethargic, wasn’t herself.

But the Aussie was alert, hungry, showing all will to be a dog but was in a lot of pain.

Such a hard call.

Discussion

My wife said goodbye through tears and I loaded her into the car.

I’d left time to driver her around, something she loved to do.

I’m crying and praying for a sign I’m making the right call.

We get to the vet and I lift her out of the car.

She puts weight on the leg for the first time in 2 days and walks roughly but steadily into the vets office.

I’m standing there waiting for the vet to call us in.
