I generally use Snort on my desktop but now that Amethyst has custom reactions, I open my phone every time I want to "hug" a post... So... much... work...

nostr:npub1v0lxxxxutpvrelsksy8cdhgfux9l6a42hsj2qzquu2zk7vc9qnkszrqj49 when custom reactions on Snort? :)

Same.

Custom reactions are killer.

A random question

Why snort not coracle

Mostly because I get confused on Coracle's feed between new and replies.

Same, love the fact that on Snort repost of tweet I already see from the original post are not seen on the home page many many times.

Would love to see that also on Amethyst, hope I'm not missing maybe that on the preferences maybe

What do you mean? 🤔 Interested in fixing if possible

I have two mindsets: i want to see what people are posting (new threads) most of the time. When I have time, I go into replies to see the other stuff. I think coracle mixes the two views here and there and if my mind is not ready for it and throws me off. :(

Gotcha, that's by design, but good feedback, something to think about

Will Livestreaming be possible on nostr in the near term? What are the hurdles?

Livestreaming will probably never be possible in-protocol, but I'm sure a client will build it soon enough

Nostr is such a flexible protocol I'm still struggling to understand it's full scope of capabilities.

Anything that can go in JSON over websockets. Which in theory is anything, but it's a bad choice for a low latency or data intensive applications.

Wow thanks that explains so much in a small amount of words amazing 🤩

What % of internet 🛜 services could be replicated with decentralized doppelgangers on nostr ?...I say currently between 60-70% ? What do you think?

I think 60-70% of them will eventually integrate with nostr. As far as being completely replaced, probably closer to 10-20%.

Thanks! Your clarifications hold weight bc your really in the thick of things.

Oh yo bro....twist my fingers 🤞 but if it's some stupid b.s big global cyber attack... imagine nostr is the last safe heaven....jajaja...right 😳

Oh yo bro one more thing....what's the potential for nostr clients to collect fees for service how and when will we see that in the ecosystem? Isn't relays making money also super important? Obviously a serious client would be running it's own relay. But basically from a collection stand point like ..where is the money ??

Relays are already charging a bit, Snort at least has a supporters badge thing going on. There are a ton of great business models, but I think folks aren't focusing on it much right now because the network isn't big enough — product & growth first, then monetization.

I feel like there’s too much focus on trying to monetise when a lot of basic stuff is broken. Practically nobody makes money running fedi instances, and there are a lot more ppl there compared to nostr.

Not to mention how “zapvertisements” are so off putting. A lot of decisions are being made that are going to drive even more ppl away.

Always had it, check preferences

No, not the default. I want to express a per-post emoji. Like this:

& 🤍 is also missing in snort reaction list.

This is the hidden OG

It is significantly more expressive and meaningful.

gotta get a tickle emoji for Fleccas

You should try Rabbit

Do they have an English interface? I only see this:

Not yet - I used it with Google translate.

But the dev nostr:npub1jcsr6e38dcepf65nkmrc54mu8jd8y70eael9rv308wxpwep6sxwqgsscyc -san has internationalization on the roadmap

different UX from other clients + lots of emoji options

This also reminds me we need to figure out a way to help people cite folks using alphabets unknown to the current user. I have no idea how to create those characters to @ him/her in my post :(

Suggestions?

Not really sure if even trying to draw characters via Gboard will help 😔

Maybe surfacing last 5 profiles interacted with on typing @ ?

Google tells me that the way to say the name is Shusui. If that is true, I think `@ Sh` should bring up his profile. This means a phonetic search might be the solution here.

Interesting - but wouldn't that involve specifying a language to search in? (And the user knowing how the name is pronounced)

In the specific case of Japanese users, it's not that much of an issue - as mostly their @ handles are in English.

Yep, but I feel bad for making non-English natives have to express their names in English. What if a Japanese person wants to be cited by an Arabic-native speaker and none of them have good English exposure?

It's awesome that you're even thinking about this. Tbh, from observing on global, people tend to stick to their language communities, are used to having English-alphabet usernames/ handles & this scenario is going to be uncommon.

When Amethyst (Onyx?) & to an extent Damus are the only clients with translation, to many users, notes in other languages may only just be above spam.

Agree. I hate forcing people into language communities. We have to find a solution for this.

I think a pronunciation-based search is an interesting idea. And I watched your video. I think it is an interesting idea to hear the pronunciation. Is there a better way to transcribe the pronunciation into the user's language? The Latin alphabet is used in many languages and the same name can have several pronunciations. Because languages use different phonemes, it can be difficult to transcribe the pronunciation of other languages.

Translate nicknames?
