It's time to start, then! Overreliance on Taiwan is bad for us.

There are Taiwanese chipmaking factories in USA, under construction.

The TSMC plant here in Phoenix is apparently at least partway operational already.

I know about this because some German manufacturing is relocating to the USA, and hopes of getting preferential treatment in the purchasing of those chips is one reason.

Germany was about to get an Intel factory, but they've put the deal on ice and are building another one in the USA, instead.

You have to build your stuff in the USA, where you have secure access to the chips and cheap land and energy, and extensive mineral and metals mining, and lots of skilled workers, and then ship the finished goods to other countries. And, now, you'll have the USD and the Bitcoin advantage, whilst the Europeans will make you use their stupid CBDC and tax you half to death. All the facepalms, fr.

Manufacturing over here is getting absolutely crushed by the Americans. Entire sectors moving over there.

Everything downstream moves to India and upstream to the USA (or Switzerland, if it's knowledge economy stuff).

And everyone is trying to get out of China. LOL They totally fucked up everyone's supply chain, during their crazy lockdowns. Gotta at least move to Vietnam or something.

Everyone getting laid off, over here, but we all get Burgergeld, so that's okay then, and Scholz and Habeck will get reelected and finish us off, but with Merz instead of Lindner.

First fab goes online this year, apparently, near Phoenix.

or maybe the USA could have a more sensible policy

In what way?
