Relays should only store text/links imo.
The moment you start adding pictures/videos, relay operators will require much more sophisticated censorship tools, whether they want them or not, creating a complete mess.
Not to mention the increased cost/burden it will place on hosting decent relays, leading to centralization.
Agree. Is this being currently discussed somewhere? I thought the only required NIP to call something Nostr was NIP 01, so not sure I follow

There’s also attempts to do it without needing a NIP like hornetstorage.com
But it’s been a question ever since people built ways to upload images and embed them in notes (like Nostr.build)
