I would love to buy handmade socks by a nostrich, but my experience is that goldtoe ankle high wool socks are the most durable. Smartwool and other high-wool content socks get holes in the bottom in only a few months, but goldtoe hold up for years. They have synthetic materials for increasd durability but still have enough wool to keep them from collecting body odors.
