They gay/bi'd her in the first season. Then I guess her girlfriend got preggers by some other post-apocalypse reprobate in the second?. I quit within the first ten minutes of the second season. Even before they started in with the typical horseshit, they had already turned Ellie into an entirely unlikeable character. I knew they were gonna kill Joel, so I bailed.

Ellie was definitely in the game. The reason you may not have noticed is that Bella Ramsey is playing a character completely unlike Ellie.
Didn't play it through. I got to some warehouse stealth shootout part of the game and sucked.
Bummer.
Classic Hollywood tv-show recipe:
- use beloved existing franchise and make a (hopefully) very good first season with some very good (and expensive actors)
- once you have ppl invested in the story, get rid of the expensive actors one by one to save money
- cut down on production costs by using more CGI, shorter scenes and shittier sets
- finally get rid of the expensive script writers and replace then with some brainless junior writer who can only copy+paste old worn out ideas OR who's only idea of character development is to make a character come out as gay/trans/bi/etc.
Only shows worth watching in the last many years have been Mr. Robot and the first few seasons of Black Mirror.
