I am the absolute worst #value4value target audience. I am a ridiculously cheap bastard and really hate to spend money. Like ever. I have never paid for subscriptions, I won’t pay for Netflix, or twitter. No cable TV. Won’t pay for Spotify. I torrent music and films and use pirated software instead of paying.

But I have zapped more sats on nostr:npub1yfg0d955c2jrj2080ew7pa4xrtj7x7s7umt28wh0zurwmxgpyj9shwv6vg & nostr:npub1v5ufyh4lkeslgxxcclg8f0hzazhaw7rsrhvfquxzm2fk64c72hps45n0v5 than I would ever have spent on corporate media. I have zapped the #nostr client devs and Bitcoin devs more than I ever gave to fucking Adobe in 12 years working as a professional photographer. I gladly donate to nostr:npub1xnf02f60r9v0e5kty33a404dm79zr7z2eepyrk5gsq3m7pwvsz2sazlpr5 more than I’d would ever have let my old fiat bank claw from my grubby fingers in bank fees. I pay for relays, I zap plebs when they make me laugh, or think… or when they post particularly cute cat pictures. I’m willing to pay more for quality wares sold for #bitcoin.

I love the #circulareconomy and I’m not gonna stop. nostr:note1ngt0nklejazs3sgamfsyrld8rc6ecm7089q80se5r4ljp6veztuqw8kn7r

You should look at open source (rather than pirated software). Cheap is fine, but Linux helps your conscience sleep better at night! 😃

Definitely! 💯 I think I’d include that in my idea of what #value4value really is. Rather than pirating I can now support directly the people who produce the goods, services, and software that I use in my daily life. This is the 180° turnaround that #v4v and open source enables.

Agree... zaps are truly revolutionary (and empowering)! 😃

And pirating / torrents ... I've always felt that hurts the artists / developers...and those are the folks that really should be compensated for their talents!

The world is changing...

Yeah I have always been torn! But now I am glad to have a viable alternative and a way to support them directly 🤙

used Windows at work, but always used OpenSource at home, find it way more user friendly and certainly no wasted time booting.

I do think Excel is the only Windows tool I couldn't replace (currently) with open source--the advanced tools (e.g. Power Query) really are a game-changer for analytics...will probably soon have some equivalents in Libre or Open Office, but still...

you could try gnucash for accounting?

No--it's really Power Query that I've used so much I'm now dependent...really opens so many doors for analytics...

But (really) as I think about it, it's Power Query I can't live without (and it's integration with Excel).

As a spreadsheet, Libre Office is perfectly adequate.
