Just look at it from an evolutionary perspective right: if mom don’t breastfeed baby dies, and another uncomfortable truth is, that breastfeeding provides a hell of a lot more than nutrition to the kid. So that alone should give away that kids are supposed to be close to mom for at least a year, and that’s a minimum! The research, as she says, is also very clear!
