Has anyone started an lnd node with no pruning on bitcoin core, then later started pruning without starting a new node?

Haven’t tried it but should be possible to switch backends, albeit probably with some performance tradeoffs here.
Proceed at your own risk. Probably worth experimenting on an alt network.
Yes you can do it with the caveat that if you prune back to before the wallet birthday you could run into issues if you ever need to rescan/recover. In that case you would potentially need to redownload a full copy of the chain. So best practice is to either run unpruned or only prune back to some time before the wallet bd.
