There are times when I'm in the middle of doing something and I stop because it just hits me all over again:

DEAR GOD, I'M FREE!!!

That wave of disbelief and joy overcomes me, just like it did when I walked free the first time. I wonder if it'll ever go away?

I can't speak from experience per se, but it seems like theoretically the rate at which you experience these moments will reduce asymptotically towards 0 over the course of the rest of your life.

Ebbinghaus's forgetting curve suggests this.

Well on the flip side; I spent 7 months inside (2 in SHU), released in April, and I barely even think about it or remember it.
