In the late 1880's this was the eiffel tower being constructed. Its amazing to think that 15 years ago humans achieved such a grand feat.

Somehow someone designed it without a computer

Somehow it was funded without crowd funding websites

Somehow it was built without a certified prince2 project manager😀

Somehow it was built without precision machines to cut steel to fractions of a mm accuracy

Somehow its still standing.

Humans can achieve great things and w eshould always strive to. The soulless high density profit maximising style of building is a far cry from the wonderful pieces of architecture built in the past.

As I walk round beautiful cities it seems like we are not leaving the next generations with beautiful architecture.

Lately i'm wondering how much money printing is to blame. We have all the tech in the world but none of the inspiration or drive.

Your thiughts?

OK. Few typos there. I should check better.

I mean the Middle East has built some great stuff recently, but an argument can be made that they do have the oil money 😅

Absolutely there are. I agree. But I wonder if they are on the same scale of effirt just purely due to the years it took to build (noting that tech speeds up construction times these days)

I’m pretty sure they also import all their cheap labor from overseas. Craftsmanship isn’t the priority, it seems mostly for show.

As one irish builder buddy said to me once, "der just ain't pride in the work anymore, no pride", as he shook his head.

Its broadly true of all jobs and things these days.

100% agree. It’s also a very important life advice. Always take pride in what you do. If you cant take pride in it even if you try, move out the first chance you get!
