I rode a freight from Oakland to SLC once. One of the best experiences of my life.

I'm not sure if I'd go that far. It's incredibly dangerous, loud, and you end up covered in train dirt, which is a special kind of black greasy dust that gets inside your ears, nose, everything.
That being said. I have never felt more free in my life. I traveled 700 miles for free and it was completely illegal.
Many more details to share; such as the different train cars and two attempts to board a moving freight (one successful, one unsuccessful).
I'd be down to do a podcast rip about it, but typing it all out would take me over an hour.
