Replying to Avatar Mapletrade

Hearing #[0] talking about old fenceposts on my morning trail run. I know where they are in the woods. I was close to this one. Osage orange not locust for this one. (Eastern red cedar, locust and Osage orange for posts around here) Probably from the early 1900's. All he said about locust is correct but I can't burn it, really stinky to burn. Would use it if I didn't have so much more wood.

What a great episode. We've got a bunch of eastern red cedar that we're turning into posts. We don't have any black locust on the old homestead, but that's going to change. We just put in a big garden and we're totally going to plant some black locust on the westside to protect from the scorching summer heat in #arkansas

It does sucker so it’s not without having to keep your eyes on but I never did more than did one or two up a year and transplant them.
